New Support Limits and Criteria for Entrepreneurship
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır had announced that the Small and Medium Industry Development Organization’s (KOSGEB) Entrepreneurship Support Program had been redesigned. KOSGEB, which has been contributing to the establishment, development, and sustainability of new businesses in service, trade, manufacturing, and information fields through its support in entrepreneurship, has updated its entrepreneurship support to current conditions by increasing the support limit from 375,000 TL to 2 million TL.
Support Programs Under Two Main Categories
The Entrepreneurship Support Program consists of two main categories: ‘Business Establishment Support’ and ‘Business Development Support.’ Under the Business Establishment Support, entrepreneurs are provided with non-refundable establishment and personnel support. An establishment support of 10,000 TL is given to businesses established as natural persons and 20,000 TL to those established as capital companies. If the entrepreneur is young, female, disabled, veteran, or a first-degree relative of a martyr, an additional 10,000 TL is added to the establishment support. Within the scope of support, for personnel expenses, as long as the enterprise continues to be a taxpayer, support is provided for the total cost to the employer equivalent to the gross minimum wage for each employee for three years. Entrepreneurs who have established their businesses no more than 1 year before the application date can apply for Business Establishment Support.
All businesses operating in sectors supported by KOSGEB can benefit from this support. For Business Development Support, entrepreneurs are provided with repayable support at an 80% rate, up to a limit of 1.5 million TL. If the entrepreneur is young, female, disabled, veteran, or a first-degree relative of a martyr, an additional 150,000 TL is added to the support limit.
Wide Range of Support Areas
Support within the scope covers expenses such as personnel, machinery and equipment, mold expenses, software expenses, and service procurement expenses (training, consultancy and guidance, certification, testing and analysis, marketing, design, industrial property rights expenses). Entrepreneurs who have established their businesses no more than 3 years before the application date can apply for Business Development Support. Businesses operating in manufacturing, telecommunications, computer programming, consultancy, information services, and scientific research and development sectors can benefit from this support.
For repayable supports, no interest or commission will be applied. Repayments by businesses will begin at the end of the 36-month program period. Applications for Business Establishment Support will be continuous, while applications for Business Development Support can be made during certain periods of the year. The first period of applications will be accepted from May 10 to June 28, 2024.
